Protection and wellbeing

Safety is part of the game.

Safeguarding means working to prevent and address abuse, violence and discrimination in sport. It means caring for people and relationships as well as what happens on the pitch.

In Sport for All, Luisa puts a face to this commitment. Her role focuses attention on children’s wellbeing and on respecting protection guidelines: a responsibility shared by coaches, volunteers and families.

Protection in everyday sport

Prevention

Encouraging awareness of behaviour and situations that may put a child at risk or make them uncomfortable. Clear rules and respect for personal boundaries help build a safer sporting environment.

Making room to listen

Valuing children’s voices. Questions, difficulties and distress deserve attention: feeling heard helps young people ask for help rather than face their worries alone.

Building respect

Challenging bullying, humiliation and exclusion. Every child should be able to take part without discrimination, with respect for their dignity and individual development.

A reference point for the whole community

For children and young people

Knowing that their wellbeing matters, on and off the pitch. Playing, learning and making mistakes should all have a place in a respectful environment.

For families

Recognising protection as part of the educational project and knowing there is a dedicated person to turn to when concerns arise.

For the adults supporting them

Keeping adults’ responsibilities and relationships in focus: respect also grows through language, example and everyday actions.
